The Role
This role sits within the Revenue Management Business Partnering pillar and acts as the first point of contact for Partners in relation to WIP management, client exposure, revenus plannings, and profitability optimisation.
This is a forward-looking, value-add role designed to meet the needs of a high-performing, international law firm by providing proactive commercial and financial support. To succeed in delivering effective revenue management advisory services, the successful candidate will adopt multiple perspectives, including:
  • Analyst: Using data and business intelligence to inform priorities and actions
  • Storyteller: Bringing numbers to life through clear, confident insights, recommendations, and actions
  • Relationship Builder: Establishing and maintaining trusted advisor relationships with partners and senior stakeholders
  • Problem Solver: Owning issues through to resolution, collaborating with subject-matter experts where required
  • Planner: Anticipating risks and opportunities, proactively managing workload, and ensuring value-add activities support decision‑making and profitability

Key Responsibilities
The key components of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Organising and leading monthly WIP review meetings with partners to encourage timely billing and effective matter management
  • Ensuring matter billing estimates (pledges) are obtained, maintained, and updated in relevant reporting tools
  • Reviewing and addressing dormant or aged WIP balances
  • Identifying, prioritising, and delivering actionable improvements to release cash from working capital
  • Driving improvements in billing forecast accuracy, implementing sustainable processes
  • Reviewing billing guides, invoices, and credit notes for compliance with firm policies and local regulatory requirements
  • Managing matter ledger housekeeping, including investigation of disbursements
  • Promoting and training Partners as an expert user of the firm’s finance systems
  • Attending partner meetings and providing working capital and financial performance updates
  • Supporting basic pricing and client analysis under the guidance of the Pricing and Commercial Insights team
  • Supporting risk management by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and EMEA working capital policies
  • Contributing to the development and enforcement of best‑practice working capital policies across Paris Office

Key Stakeholders
  • Partners and fee earners in allocated Paris-based teams
  • Finance Business Partner colleagues across pricing, commercial finance, and credit management
  • Legal Project Management (LPM) teams
  • Revenue Operations colleagues based in Newcastle (billing, rates, helpdesk)

Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Hands‑on experience with recognised legal practice management systems
  • Proven Finance Business Partnering experience with senior stakeholders, including the ability to influence and appropriately challenge
  • Strong understanding of rate structures, alternative pricing or billing arrangements, multi‑currency environments, disbursements, and vendor treatment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the resilience and confidence to communicate Finance perspectives effectively
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with a proactive approach to enhancing processes, performance, and collaboration
  • Strong attention to detail, balanced with the ability to think strategically
  • Collaborative team player with a transparent, practical, and “can‑do” attitude
  • Professional gravitait to succeed in a partnership environment and operate as a trusted advisor
  • Strong work ethic and ambition for ongoing professional development
  • Flexibility in working hours, with willingness to support the business during peak periods, particularly at month‑end
